Victory over Besetment

Here is a quote from a recent book I have been reading, and it is the clearest exposition that I have come across on this point; Quote “There are few Christians who have not gained the mastery over some sin that formerly greatly annoyed them and overcame them.  Many a man who has been a slave to the tobacco habit has gained the victory over the habit and rejoices in his victory.  Tobacco has ceased to be a temptation.  It attracts him no more.  He has been victorious over one besetment, so he is to become victorious over every sin.  When the work is completed, when he has gained the victory over pride, ambition, love of the world – over all evil – he is ready for translation.  He has been tried on all points.  The Evil one has come to him and found nothing.  Satan has no more temptations for him.  He has over-come them all.  He stands without fault before the throne of God.  Christ places his seal upon him.  He is safe, and he is sound.  God has finished His work in him.  The demonstration of what God can do with humanity is complete.

Thus it shall be with the last generation of men living on the earth.  Through them God’s final demonstration of what He can do with humanity will be given.  He will take the weakest of the weak, those bearing the sins of their forefathers, and in them show the power of God.  They will be subjected to every temptation, but they will not yield.  They will demonstrate that it is possible to live without sin – the very demonstration for which the world has been looking and for which God has been preparing.  It will become evident to all that the Gospel really can save to the uttermost.  God is found true in His sayings.”  {P302. The Sanctuary Service – ML Andreasen}

This Author has really got to the very bottom of this subject, so let us look at some scriptures on the same concept.  The first is the description of those who are “Translated at Jesus soon appearing,” Revelation 14:12 “Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”  Another verse is from Revelation 7:14 “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

From the “Sanctuary Service” we get the concepts of what is happening with blood and sin.  Here we have Hebrews 9:22    “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Scripture is very clear that the only solution to sin, is Sacrifice and it must be Blood, this represents the death of the sinner, but a substitute (a specified animal or bird) can actually take the place of the sinner by its shed blood.  This all pointed to John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”  This is Calvary, and the reality for all the myriads of previous blood sacrifices, thus we do not have to blood sacrifice anymore.

The Sinner (substitute) was then killed, and burnt to ashes, wages of sin, and therefore ceases to exist, gone for time and eternity.  Here is an interesting verse as found in Malachi 4:3 “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do [this], saith the LORD of hosts.”  This one is very specific from Leviticus 1:16 “And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:”

This verse advises us that the ash is back on the ground, the end results of the sin offering having been burnt up. We have this verse in Genesis 3:19 “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.”  Leviticus 6:10 “And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar.” So sin leads to ashes as we have found out.

The solution we discovered is in Revelation 7:14 “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”  From this we have discovered that those Translated as the last generation alive on Planet Earth at Jesus Christ’s soon return to shut this world down are squeaky clean as they do not have any sin.

These people have responded to the Gospel Call and repented and forsaken all sin, and any sin that may have come to light, is confessed, forsaken and covered by “The Blood.”  This then makes them “Perfect” before Father God.

Quote; “The mind must not be left to dwell at random upon every subject that the enemy of souls may suggest. The heart must be faithfully sentineled, or evils without will awaken evils within, and the soul will wander in darkness. “Gird up the loins of your mind,” Peter wrote, “be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; . . . not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”  {AA 518}
