New Year

Here we are now, just a very few days out from the end of 2019 and the dawning of 2020 and a Brand New Year, one almost like none other ever in the history past.  How we got this far through 2019 from January just past so quickly is just a mystery and a blur, but here we are now, all of us standing at the very door as it were, doorstep in front of us ready to step over the threshold into 2020.  There are some very big plans afoot for this next year by those in power, and the new technology that is about to be launched is going to totally change the way we live and the way we do things.  There is a grand new day dawning in front of us jam packed with wonders and new experiences, some great, and some; well not so great.

There are some grand ole New Years Poems that get dusted off and re-posted, so your Facebook, Twitter, and social media account will most likely show some of them, but your best and safest way into 2020 is to glue yourself to Jesus Christ, weld yourself to God and to hang on, strap yourself in as we rollercoaster off into and through this New Year; as God is the only guarantee and surety that ever has been in the past, in the present, or ever will be in the future.

How is your relationship with him?  Is it strong and vibrant, or does it need a whole lot more time, effort and commitment?  Time is flying by and things are pressing in on all fronts, maybe we need a major shift in our priorities, and that which we claim to be most important, somehow actually needs to be  dragged up from the bottom of the heap and dusted off and then put back where it actually belongs, at the very top.

Now that you have put God back at the top of your list, (where he should always ever be) why not now link family up there next, then put your active support group next, and then how about you put there those who support you next and then return the favour and actively support those who are reaching out to support you.  Give a little back for the grateful efforts that they pour into you.  Make sure that each person knows that they are special in your life, and that you treasure their input and involvement, and that you want it to continue.

Are there some things that really need to be removed from your list as “I do not do that anymore” and a few things added as “This is the new Me, I now do these sorts of things.”  The old “Written Lists” are very helpful method in focussing the mind, so that one can evaluate where one is heading and where one is not going back to; a that was “once upon a time in a land far far away” and is no longer a current behaviour or activity, ever.

There may be a “cap in hand” and apologies to be sought, to have to go and to hold out “The Olive Branch,” time to build some new, or to repair some old bridges, and there will also most definitely be some bad bridges to a nasty place that really need a “Demolition Crew” or a “Burn that old Bridge Down.”  You are certainly done and through with that; be it a bad and destructive relationships, bad diet and eating, bad living, or whatever may be on your list, now is the time to change course, to go on a different path, to forge a new pathway or to trail blaze.

You just might be pleasantly surprised at those who join you in your “New Quest” as they also have come to the same conclusion and you now have some like minded “Travelling Companions” who just need your vision and desire as “I just want to be part of that.”  Sometimes all people need is a “Leader” or a “Concept” to have them to commit to a new path, and to then say, I wish I had thought of that ages ago as that is just what I want, so step out with your hand firmly in God’s hand, and advance into a new tomorrow.

We have this pertinent verse in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  We have a “New You” and a “New Year” with a load of fresh new plans and aspirations.    As Paul put it, “Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature,” we can have a new life, a new slate, and the old things are no more, so the Jesus Christ portion is the most critical. If we get that one right, then everything else will smoothly fall into its right place behind that one, it is called right priorities.

Jesus Christ, First, Last and Best in everything.  Quote; “Jesus Christ is everything to us–the first, the last, and the best in everything. Jesus Christ, His Spirit, His character, colours everything; it is the warp and the woof, the very texture of our entire being. The words of Christ are spirit and life. We cannot, then, centre our thoughts upon self; it is no more we that live, but Christ that liveth in us, and He is the hope of glory. Self is dead, but Christ is a living Saviour.”  {FLB 150}   How can we ever fail if we adopt this principle for 2020?

Dear Reader; I resolve to make “Jesus Christ, First, Last and Best in everything,” to walk in his ways and to be led by his word, the Bible; so will you also commit to this stand and make 2020 the Year of Jesus Christ, King of our lives and ruler and director of our every step and pathway?  God will bless you abundantly in this New Year, please just let him.
