Leave All
Are you willing to “walk away from everything?” Lot’s Wife was unable to walk away from “her stuff” and perished in the disaster that was sweeping in so rapidly and yet so quickly right behind her. She paused, she stopped, and as she turned she was instantly consumed by the disaster rushing in behind. We have an interesting point as Pharaoh gave instructions to Joseph in regards to his extended family perishing in the drought in Canaan as recorded in Genesis 45:17-20 “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan; And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land. Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt [is] yours.”
Did you note the last Phrase; “Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt [is] yours?” The message was simply, “forget to pack everything as what is before you is greatly superior to what you are leaving,” your life is so much more important, your stuff has no value anymore. Jesus called Matthew, and he left his Tax Booth, Peter, Andrew, James and John all walked away from their Fishing Enterprise, Nathanael left his Theological Studies. Mark 10:28 “Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.”
At “Passover” we have this as shown in Exodus 12:11 “And thus shall ye eat it; [with] your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it [is] the LORD’S Passover.” Israel was to walk out and leave “Stuff” as they were to exit quickly “Out the Door” and head away from slavery to the bounties of, “The Promised Land.” Deuteronomy 6:3 “Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do [it]; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.” There are “Bounties” ahead, excesses everywhere, and wants no more.
When you read in the book of Revelation, at the very point when Jesus comes back for his “Sheep,” his “Wheat,” his Faithful Followers, the Harvest at the End of the Age, he comes to resurrect his kids that are sleeping in their dusty beds in the various cemeteries, and then immediately calls up to him to join him, along with the resurrected ones, those, “we which are alive and waiting,” and the “Harvest of Earth” is complete, and then the Redeemed of all ages “Exodus” to the “Promised Land.” Nowhere have I ever read that the Redeemed pack or take anything with them to Heaven, well that is except for their “Character” which they have formed here while living on earth, and that is forever fixed and unchangeable. Your Character sets your status and position in the new Government that Jesus sets up to rule the Whole Universe, which is now complete and finally unified once more, as sin and sinners exist no more. The Ninety and Nine are now united with the one “Lost Sheep” from the wilderness of Sin/Egypt, and they have now been triumphantly brought back home to a great welcoming party.
The “Lost Coin” was partied and celebrated over on its return, Luke 15:9 “And when she hath found [it], she calleth [her] friends and [her] neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. The “Lost Sheep” was celebrated over as recorded in Luke 5:6 “And when he cometh home, he calleth together [his] friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.” In the Lost Son in Luke 15:22-24 “But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put [it] on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on [his] feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill [it]; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
It is interesting to note in the “Three Lost’s” that none of the three ever “packed a bag to bring anything home” and the first two had to be carried home, but the Prodigal Son was compelled and wooed and drawn home by the ever constant Fathers Love, as well as the safety and inclusion of Home, where he would be safe and well cared for, so he left all in the pig pen and eagerly pressed his steps homeward. And he, “Also he regard not his pig pen stuff; for the good of all the land of Heaven [is] yours, over there, Back Home, Eternity.” Gen 45:20 (Edited).
Paraphrased and edited. “And Jesus said unto the Leading Angels, Say unto All the Angels, This do ye; and go, get you unto the land of Sin, Planet Earth; And take and gather and harvest all my children, and come and bring them Home unto me: and I will give them the good of the land of Heaven, and they shall eat the fat of the land. Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you Chariots of Fire out of Heaven for the little ones, and for their wives, and bring all my family, and bring them back Home. Also regard not their stuff; for the good of all the land of Heaven [is] theirs.” Genesis 45:17-20.
Dear Reader; Are you right now preparing for Eternity by living the “Heavenly Life” right here on Earth, living the Sinless life “In Christ?”
