Smorgasbord Reunion
The day had finally come and all was ready, the invitations had been long ago sent out, the follow ups and reminders had also followed along from time to time advising that the “Big Day” was getting very close, the Host had all the food well prepared, the venue was all ready, each and every seat had already been pre-paid for by the host, the day and hour was finally here, so now it was time for all the invited guests to rock on up, to celebrate and to feast and to fellowship, but would they come? The Bible has a story found in Luke 14:16-24 “Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come {ceremonially unclean}. So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel [them] to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.”
The reality to this verse is this one, Revelation 19:7-9 “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, these are the true sayings of God.” You see, God the Father, the supreme ruler of Heaven and Earth is throwing a huge celebration party, for you see, his only son Jesus Christ is getting married, and you all have been sent an invitation, but how will you respond.
Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.” God is constantly sending out reminders, calling for a response, but how will you reply? Luke 21:33-36 “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
God is constantly sending out to each and every one of us a constant stream of reminders, in the sunshine and the rain, dawn and sunsets, flowers and trees, streams, lakes and rivers, the ocean waves, birds, butterflies, animals and all nature, the starry heavens are all calling out to us God’s undying love, but are we actually listening and will we respond? Has the cares of this life, the daily grind, that endlessness erased from your mind the real reason that we are here in this age, that we have life, but Jesus Christ is crying out for us to respond to his “Smorgasbord Reunion” which is very close, and it would not be the same if you fail to be there in attendance, so look up and live “In Christ” and confirm your invitation, and then daily to be ready.
You see, in Bible Times, the Wedding Invitation went out, along with the appropriate dress clothing, so that no matter your wealth, or lack thereof, you could always proudly attend. You placed the robe up on the shelf and kept it always clean and ready, and when the knock on the door came to take you to the celebration, it only took a moment to slip on the garment and slip out the door and off to the celebration. Or like Jesus’s Parable, are you going to decline, have you unfitted yourself for the purity of Heaven, has the Perfect Robe been carelessly mistreated and now it is an embarrassment and never fit to be ever seen, has it been ruined by the cares of this life, stopping you from attending. Now is the time to respond to God’s “Smorgasbord Reunion” and to get your life clean, and to accept “The Robe of Christs Righteousness” and to keep that pure and clean always, see you there at the Banquet.
