Wallpaper

In years back, Newspapers often printed, and often in the Weekend Special, a centre pull out section with nice pictures, and even the Calendars of the day had high quality pictures on them of a good large size.  These were well utilized by the working class, for they were placed in “Picture Frames,” or used as “Wallpaper,” for they carefully cut them out, mixed up some flour from the kitchen with water to make a paste, which was also a great glue, and this was liberally applied to the pictures, and literally plastered to the walls, and as the months rolled by, the house was wallpapered, and then new pictures were layered over the old fading ones.  In the 60’s Pop and Rock bands often published high quality “Posters” and these landed up on the walls and ceilings of the teenager’s bedrooms, Wallpaper.

Quote; “Dear Readers, it is by beholding that we become changed. By dwelling upon the love of God and our Saviour, by contemplating the perfection of the divine character and claiming the righteousness of Christ as ours by faith, we are to be transformed into the same image. Then let us not gather together all the unpleasant pictures—the iniquities and corruptions and disappointments, the evidences of Satan’s power—to hang in the halls of our memory, to talk over and mourn over until our souls are filled with discouragement. A discouraged soul is a body of darkness, not only failing to receive the light of God, but shutting it away from others. Satan loves to see the effect of the pictures of his triumphs, making human beings faithless and disheartened.” {CCh 80}

The important part of this quote is this; “Then let us not gather together all the unpleasant pictures—the iniquities and corruptions and disappointments, the evidences of Satan’s power—to hang in the halls of our memory, to talk over and mourn over until our souls are filled with discouragement. A discouraged soul is a body of darkness, not only failing to receive the light of God, but shutting it away from others. Satan loves to see the effect of the pictures of his triumphs, making human beings faithless and disheartened.”  So the question for each of us is this; What are you Wallpapering the walls of you Heart with?  Are we Wallpapering it with pictures of Purity and God, Pictures of Jesus Christ?  How easy it is to Wallpaper everything with our sorrows and woes, plastering them everywhere like a Shrine, weeping before them, focusing all our attention upon them, dwelling upon them, re-living them, and by this very act, Satan and his crew are partying hard and celebrating for by this, (that is your enthusiastic Wallpapering of your sins,) then this has almost fully taken your focus off Jesus Christ, now you are on very dangerous ground and it is so easy now for you to totally lose your way and become even more like what you are beholding, Remember, for by beholding we become changed.

Hebrews 12:1-4 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.  Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.”  So who are you “Looking Unto?”  What is the “Theme” of the wallpaper pictures on the walls of your heart?  Would you actually be brave enough to swing the doors of your heart wide open, and to then to put out the “Welcome Mat” and encourage all the Visitors to look and to study your wallpapered heart?

We so often adopt this saying, “What goes on Tour stays on Tour” and then we hide in our Heart all the “sins that so easily beset us” by wallpapering our heart with them, fixating our attention upon them, till we almost lust after these sins and failings, as our continual focus is upon these things, and on this point, it “should not ought to be,” and that is the actual real meaning of the word Fornication.  Are we committing Fornication by what we constantly wallpaper our hearts with, is our Wallpaper ever fit for Public Viewing, when actually the wallpaper of our hearts should really be open for all the world to see, as it must always be Jesus clearly displayed in our hearts and in our every action, so what is your heart wallpapered with?

John 4:9-10 “Jesus saith unto him, have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Show us the Father?  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”  Philip was being reminded that as he looked upon Jesus, he was actually seeing our Heavenly Father, for Jesus Wallpapered himself so well that you could not ever see him, but God perfectly displayed.  So what have you Wallpapered your Soul to look like?  Why not have a “Paint and re-Paper” session in your Soul, and tear down all the sin and sorrow pictures and plaster your Soul with goodness, purity and God-Likeness?
