Grateful Heart
There is a wonderful little chorus, and it goes something like this, “Thank you Lord, for saving my soul, Thank you Lord, for making me whole; Thank you Lord, for giving to me, Thy great salvation so rich and free. Thank you Jesus.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 “O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good; for his mercy [endureth] forever.” Psalm 30:4, “Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 30:12 “To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.” Psalm 97:12 “Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.” Psalm 105:1 “O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.” Psalm 106:1 “Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] forever.” Psalm 119:62 “At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.” Psalm 140:13 “Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16 “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Matthew 6:9-13 “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.” When we pray this prayer, we are repeating this sentence, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” We are imploring God’s name to be hallowed, praised, honored, and uplifted, by all our thoughts, deeds, words and actions. We are also encouraged to Worship our Creator by our everything’s, every moment of the day and night, so how well do we measure up, so how grateful is your heart? Deuteronomy 6:5 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
Quote; “Let Jesus take possession of your mind, your heart, and your affections; and work as Christ worked, doing conscientiously the home duties, little acts of self-denial and deeds of kindness, employing the moments diligently, keeping a careful watch against little sins and have a grateful heart for little blessings, and you will have at last such a testimony for yourself as was given of John and Samuel, and especially of Christ: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” {AH 297}
Quote; “This promise will never fail. We cannot enjoy the favor of God unless we comply with the conditions upon which His favor is bestowed. By so doing there will come to us that peace, contentment, and wisdom that the world can neither give nor take away. . . . A humble mind and a grateful heart will elevate us above petty trials and real difficulties. The less earnest, energetic, and vigilant we are in the service of the Master, the more will the mind dwell upon self, magnifying molehills into mountains of difficulty. {CC 370}
Quote; “When sin struggles for the mastery . . . look to the Saviour. His grace is sufficient to subdue sin. Let your grateful heart, trembling with uncertainty, turn to Him. Lay hold on the hope set before you. . . . His strength will help your weakness; He will lead you step by step. Place your hand in His, and let Him guide you. He will set free the captive that is held by weakness and misfortune and the chains of sin. He is always near. His loving presence surrounds you. Seek Him as one who desires to be found of you. God’s promise is, “Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” {FLB 87}
Quote; “What a victory you will gain when you learn to follow the opening providences of God with a grateful heart and a determination to live with an eye single to His glory, in sickness or health, in abundance or want. Self is alive and quivering at every touch. Self must be crucified before you can overcome in the name of Jesus and receive the reward of the faithful. {4T 221}
Quote; “Then turn your grateful heart, trembling with uncertainty, and lay hold upon the hope set before you. God accepts your broken, contrite heart. He offers you free pardon. He offers to adopt you into His family, with His grace to help your weakness, and the dear Jesus will lead you on step by step if you will only put your hand in His and let Him guide you. {LHU 256}
1 Chronicles 16:23-31 “Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. For great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also [is] to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the people [are] idols: but the LORD made the heavens. Glory and honour [are] in his presence; strength and gladness [are] in his place. Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory [due] unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let [men] say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.”
Revelation 14:6-8 “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Psalm 116:12 “What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?” So how “Grateful is your Heart?” Why not be perpetually Grateful and, thankful in all things? 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
