Let your Light so Shine
There they were at the Airport, all lined behind fellow travelers, queued up for the mandatory carry-on baggage x-ray check, pockets all emptied, carry-on bag lifted up to be placed on the conveyer belt, but where are those familiar plastic trays? A quick look under the bench, and there they were, slowly rolling along down a gentle slope to the end where you are standing, and a soft “Blue Light” was obviously shining onto them, sterilizing them from any surface contamination by germs and bacteria, thus making them extremely safe to handle. This is because there are special UV Lightbulbs fitted in rows above the return conveyor bring the empty trays back, all sanitized and sterilized ready for you to load up with your phones, laptops and other belongings. UV blue light is a Short-wave ultraviolet light which damages DNA and sterilizes surfaces with which it comes into contact, this ensures that any bacteria and germs on the surface are therefore destroyed making them ineffective at causing diseases and death. For those with Tank or Bore Water, filters remove the sediment, charcoal filters purify, and then the UV Light is the last wall of defense and protects the consumer from any contamination, and in some countries even the waste water and sewage is UV Treated before it is used again in irrigation of desert reclaiming forests, or in other recycling projects.
1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” This verse tells us that if we are “in the Light” then the contaminating influence of sin is removed and destroyed, because we live in the light of the blood shed for us at the Cross, and have no fellowship with sin, darkness and death. Quote; “We need every ray of light that God can shed upon us. Many who should be setting their tents nearer to the land of Canaan, are pitching their camp nearer to Egypt. They are not living in the light of the Sun of Righteousness. Many attend places of amusement, to gratify the taste, but no spiritual strength is gained by so doing, and you will find yourself on the losing side. To encourage the love of amusement is to discourage the love of religious exercises; for the heart becomes so crowded with trifling, with what is pleasing to the natural heart, that there is no room left for Jesus. {RH 7/10/1890}
John 12:35-36 “Then Jesus said unto them, yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. 1 John 1:6-7 “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Ezekiel 36:26-27 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]. Malachi 4:2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”
If you ever took a wee Jewish clay oil lamp out in a very dark night, you will quickly discover this, yes you can clearly see on what you stand, yes you can see just enough in front of you to know where you can safely place your feet, after that, basically nothing. When you take that next step forwards, in faith, and some limited sight, you will more clearly see on what you stand, enough to see your next step, so onwards you journey step by step, seeing just enough to be always safe. So in a spiritual walk, faith and the light of the Gospel in Jesus Christ, assures us that we are currently safe, just where the next step is safe to make, but then you must continually move forwards “in Faith” or else you will remain standing stuck just where you are, which could be much more dangerous to you than in moving forwards.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Sin in this concept, is bacteria and germs, all determined to make you sick, or sick unto death (wages of sin), but if we continually expose our lives to the “Light of the World” by confession and forsaking darkness, by living in the light, as he is in the light, we are UV sterilized and protected, and all who come in contact with us are also protected from us ever infecting them. We should be infecting everyone we come anywhere near, with “the love of God as found in Christ Jesus our Lord,” but have we failed to cleanse ourselves firstly, and now they are at a risk of further infection, which could be deathly to them. We should be infecting with Light, Love and Salvation, and the UV Light from Jesus, which continually shines out of us, in and through us, cleansing ourselves, and all those we come in contact with. Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” May we always be “Effective” “Dissinfectors.”
