Hurt People – Hurt People
It is so very very sad, that hurting people, rush about hurting still other people, but still all the while claiming to be the one who is being oppressed and unduly persecuted and misunderstood, wail that they are not being treated as they ought, and should be, but then foolishly keep going out and hurting family, friends, neighbors and all others round about them, lashing out and misrepresenting any close by. Matthew 7:12 ERV “Do for others what you would want them to do for you. This is the meaning of the Law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets.” So why should this ought to be thus, Oh why do hurting people, who have been lied about, misrepresented, smitten and abused, hurt and hungry, and resenting it all to the max, knowing full well the depth of betrayal, grief and agony, then want to go out and to inflict what they have just been through, the trauma, the tears and heartache, on those closest to them, as well as those near and dear to them??
Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:44-48 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? Do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
Romans 12:9-21 ERV “Your love must be real. Hate what is evil. Do only what is good. Love each other in a way that makes you feel close like brothers and sisters. And give each other more honour than you give yourself. As you serve the Lord, work hard and don’t be lazy. Be excited about serving him! Be happy because of the hope you have. Be patient when you have troubles. Pray all the time. Share with God’s people who need help. Look for people who need help and welcome them into your homes. Wish only good for those who treat you badly. Ask God to bless them, not curse them. When others are happy, you should be happy with them. And when others are sad, you should be sad too. Live together in peace with each other. Don’t be proud, but be willing to be friends with people who are not important to others. Don’t think of yourself as smarter than everyone else. If someone does you wrong, don’t try to pay them back by hurting them. Try to do what everyone thinks is right. Do the best you can to live in peace with everyone. My friends, don’t try to punish anyone who does wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with his anger. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one who punishes; I will pay people back.” But you should do this: “If you have enemies who are hungry, give them something to eat. If you have enemies who are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this you will make them feel ashamed. Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil by doing good.” So why do “Hurt People – Hurt People?”
Why are we, and all of us have been hurt, betrayed, slandered, even gossiped about, still continually going about hurting yet others. Why are not “Hurting People – Healing People?” We have trod the path, we have the physical scars and the emotional/mental scars, we have been through this, where is the compassion, the love, the encouragement? Jeremiah 8:21-22 ERV “My people are hurt, so I am hurt. I am too sad to speak. Surely there is some medicine in Gilead. Surely there is a doctor in Gilead. So why are the wounds of my people not healed?” Jesus is “The Balm of Gilead,” so why are we not carrying the wounded to him by word, prayer and Christian Living? Why are we not seeing “Redeemed People – Redeeming People?”
Psalm 23:1-6 ERV “The Lord is my shepherd. I will always have everything I need. He gives me green pastures to lie in. He leads me by calm pools of water. He restores my strength. He leads me on right paths to show that he is good. Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger, because you are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepared a meal for me in front of my enemies. You welcomed me as an honoured guest. My cup is full and spilling over. Your goodness and mercy will be with me all my life, and I will live in the Lord’s house a long, long time.”
If Jesus could plead with his Father for “Good things – Forgiveness,” for those who were actively killing him, why could not you and I do the same? Jesus chose to break the cycle of hurting others, he was instead offering peace, healing, restoration and forgiveness, so let us resolve to do the same. Let us be “Redeemed People – Redeeming People.” Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil by doing good.” So why do “Hurt People – Hurt People?” Why are we not seeing “Redeemed People – Redeeming People?” Are you going to accept the Call of God, and prove your redemption by the way you treat others, Matthew 7:20 “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Let us every day and in every way be; “Redeemed People – Redeeming People, and Healed People – Healing People?”
