Try it, Before you Buy it
Apart from “Shopping on-line,” we love to look at the product, feel the materials fabric in each garment, open and shut oven doors, fridge doors, microwaves, dishwashers, when looking at a house to buy, we open cupboards, drawers, doors, examine everything, and if it is a vehicle, when we have finished looking and poking about, we go for a “Test Drive” to see if it is just right, and even in marriages these days, it is not uncommon unfortunately for a prospective mate, to be “Test Driven” by sleeping together and/or, living together first. Unfortunately statistics tell us that the longer they “Live Together” before marriage, the quicker the split and divorce once they do actually marry. As was once said, “If you get free milk, why buy a cow?” Living together usually means getting as much “Free Stuff,” as possible, no commitment, and then to move on to the next one when the freebees start to dry up, hunting for more free and uncommitted handouts.
Quote; “Our time belongs to God. Every moment is His, and we are under the most solemn obligation to improve it to His glory. Of no talent He has given will He require a more strict account than of our time. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12. The value of time is beyond computation. Christ regarded every moment as precious, and it is thus that we should regard it. Life is too short to be trifled away. We have but a few days of probation in which to prepare for eternity. We have no time to waste, no time to devote to selfish pleasure, no time for the indulgence of sin. It is now that we are to form characters for the future, immortal life. It is now that we are to prepare for the searching judgment.
The human family have scarcely begun to live when they begin to die. . . . The man who appreciates time as his working day, will fit himself for a mansion and for a life that is immortal. It is well that he was born. We are admonished to redeem the time. But time squandered can never be recovered. We cannot call back even one moment. The only way in which we can redeem our time is by making the most of that which remains, by being co-workers with God in His great plan of redemption.
Every moment is freighted with eternal consequences. We are to stand as minute men, ready for service at a moment’s notice. The opportunity that is now ours to speak to some needy soul the word of life, may be never offered again. God may say to that one, “This night thy soul shall be required of thee,” and through our neglect he may not be ready. (Luke 12:20.) In the great judgment day, how shall we render our account to God? {FLB 158}
God is also very keen for us to give him a “Test Drive,” Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.” Now “Marriage” is until “death do us part,” and if the spouse never dies, well that marriage is for “Eternity.” Now the book of Revelation uses heaps of “Marriage” type symbolism, Revelation 19:9 “And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” So this depicts that when you accept Jesus Christ, you are in fact now “Engaged to him,” and are keeping yourself pure and true for your soon future wedding, and then going home to live with him at his “Father’s House” living in the “New Jerusalem.”
Now we have this Quote; “In Jesus is our life derived. In Him is life, that is original, unborrowed, underived life. In us there is a streamlet from the fountain of life. In Him is the fountain of life. Our life is something that we receive, something that the Giver takes back again to Himself. If our life is hid with Christ in God, we shall, when Christ shall appear, also appear with Him in glory. And while in this world we will give back to God, in sanctified service, all the capabilities He has already given us. {MM 7}
So Jesus, “our Husband” in this current concept, who is life, and will live forever, then we get to stay married, joined to him, living with him, forever, and there is no death, just life unending, joined eternally. Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Joshua 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
So I guess it is all down to “Who will you serve?” Is it going to be “Sin and corruption and death,” or “Salvation sanctification and life [unending]?” In this life we can observe that sin does not bring joy and happiness, Jesus says that we need to “taste and see” and in this verse it plays a deeper activity, John 6:53 “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” So in this imagery, Jesus is stretching out an arm and inviting you to munch away, taste and see, “Try before you Buy,” so who will you choose, yourself and sin and death, or Jesus forever? Back to this verse, Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.” So let us practice moment by moment living our “Life Eternal,” so that when we get to Heaven, we are still most comfortable there, so “Try Jesus,” you will never be disappointed. How well do you get involved, tasting and seeing, then munch and lunch on him, the flavor is sublime, it is most satisfying, and like the daily manna, it is fresh every morning and will easily sustain you right throughout the day. So will you “Try before you Buy?” Oh taste and see that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious.” Oh taste and see that the Lord is good, will you “Try before you Buy?”
