The language of Heaven
Here we explore something that is just so much “Fun to play with,” and just on every single person has a different answer to this question, and the default and preferential, nay the exact language of Heaven, is the language of their fathers, their native language, their “Mother Tongue.” So let us dip our toes into the vast lake of things, and explore a tiny bit of what is in scripture, starting with this well-known verse, 1 Corinthians 13:1 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” Paul asks us to think of “Angel Language,” the language and dialect that Angels speak; so very interesting.
If we play with “and God spake,” we get six verses, and these all relate to Noah, Moses, but also it refers to Israel, especially about freeing them from the captivity and bondage of a foreign land, and to re-settle them into Canaan. Now “Egypt” and “Sin” in the Hebrew mindset are interchangeable, so Egypt=Sin and Sin=Egypt. So God is Speaking, calling us out of Sin and into Salvation. We get this parallel in Revelation 18:4-5 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” Here John the Revelator is firmly declaring the Egypt=Sin, and we all need to Exodus, and to, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Note how John termed this, “God Spoke, and he wrote.” And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,” so John heard the Language of Heaven, and it was saying the same thing, “Come out of Egypt, come out of Sin, come out of Bondage and oppression in a strange country, to “render therefore unto God the things that are God’s,” to come back home, to Exodus to Heaven, to listen, to heed and to flee.”
Moses repeated the “God Spoke,” and Israel left Egypt and Exodused to the “Promised Land.” Noah repeated the “God Spoke,” and those who listened and came into the Ark, all Exodused to the New World, as a Flood cleansed the earth, and Noah stepped out into an entirely “New World.” And “God Spoke,” in Revelation, and those that heard God’s Voice, fled Babylon [and Egypt], Joshua led Israel across the flooded Jordan River, into the Promised Land, as God made a dry path through the river for them, just repeating the Red Sea miracle. The Scripture plays this concept once more, Revelation 6:14 “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” Clouds are water, and God rolls them back, so that the Redeemed can pass on through totally dry. We get this in 2 Peter 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.” Abraham had a deep and arm twisting chat with God over the destruction of Sodom and its surrounding cities, and debated God down to “I will not destroy [it] for ten’s sake.” [Genesis 18:32]
Paul gets us to consider this from Hebrews 1:1 “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” Paul is once more reminding us that “God Speaks,” that he has done so in past History, done it in our own past, even spoken to us today, “unto the law and the prophets,” Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.” Scripture calls us to read and to heed all that is written in “To the law and to the testimony:” there God is still speaking. “Law,” is the first Five Books, or the “Books of Moses,” who it appears wrote the book of Job first at the time he was feeding sheep hiding from Egypt, plus a few of the Psalms. So the first 5 Books = Law, the rest, all the way to Malachi are what is referred to as “the Testimony, or the Prophets.” Now the New Testament is something like 30% direct quotes from the Old Testament, plus another 30-40% of references, parallels, prompts, which pretty much makes all the “New Testament” an exact copy of the “Old Testament.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Here Paul is admonishing Pastor Timothy, to heed “God’s Voice,” in “All Scripture,” and to listen for his voice in Nature, at Prayer Times, and in everything, and then to quickly obey.
Luke 4:4 “And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” God is speaking, the Bible is Admonishing, but who is listening? 1 Kings 19:11-13 “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was [so], when Elijah heard [it] that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, [there came] a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?” 1 Samuel 3:9-10 “Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak [Lord], for thy servant heareth.” Isaiah 30:21 “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” Heaven will always speak in a language that you are very familiar with, will speak in a language you clearly understand, will speak instruction that is fully in harmony with “All Scripture,” Malachi 3:6a “For I [am] the LORD, I change not;” the one who is the same yesterday, today and forever, the predictable, unchangeable God, he is willing to speak, but are you willing to hear, willing to obey, and willing to quickly follow? So what is “The Language of Heaven?” John starts his Gospel declaring that the Word of God is Jesus, Jesus is in “All Scripture,” (road to Emmaus Sermon) and it is in your mother tongue, so will you be obedient to God’s speaking? Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Exodus 19:5 “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth [is] mine:” God is still patiently speaking, but are you and I even listening?
