Nest Building
In this Article we will explore an interesting predicament that I recently heard about and we shall soon see “Spiritual Lessons,” from it. I think it was an ancient Greek Philosopher who coined this phrase, “A bird and a fish can fall in love, but where do they build their nest?” As this story goes, a lad in England falls in love with a lassie in USA, true love comes in many varied guises and from sometimes unexpected meetings, but that is how this story goes.
Now a “Green Card” is currently unavailable to the Englishman, so he cannot re-locate, and a UK Visa is unavailable to the American lassie, so she is stuck in America, so we have a great dilemma and seemingly impossible impasse. They are oceans apart and time zones away, but Internet does somehow shorten the space of distance, but the time zone factor still remains immoveable. One can easily talk to a computer screen, but in person it is so, so, much better and rewarding.
Now this predicament has got one thinking Heavenly thoughts. We have all met Jesus Christ, mostly by a chance encounter and in often very interesting ways. Now there are enough of these stories from different people’s experiences to write a very interesting book, but this is not our calling today. Back to the story, Jesus now lives in Heaven, and that is a place we cannot currently get access to, as we have no valid access papers, so that boarder is currently closed to us.
Jesus cannot currently come to Earth for you and me, as he has big business commitments, for he is currently building the “New Jerusalem” as a home for his new bride (us), which he is soon to return to collect, flying in, in his private jet, with a full entourage (his soon return for his people). He is also working out our “Entrance Clearance Papers,” (Sins all Forgiven and removed) to enable us to enter Heaven. All our corrupted records, of sinful behaviour have been purged and washed clean “In the Blood of the Lamb,” so our record sheet now shows a perfect and pure person, Heavenly qualifying, entrance complying sheet, so, Come on In.
In the meantime, we are stuck down here; and he is Over There. We at least have his “Love Letters” to us, which we call the Bible. We have Skype or similar to call and to chat with him (called Prayer) and that is as good as it currently gets. But we know that he is working steadily on removing the impasse that is stopping a Face to Face relationship. Sometimes we get impatient and call out to Heaven “Beam us up Scottie,” to misquote “Star Trek.” Would it not be nice to have all the chaos of this current life/existence behind us and eternity rolling out ever before us, to have face to face communion with our Saviour, to have fellowship with the redeemed from all ages, meeting the Patriarch’s, chatting with the writers of Scripture? Oh what a glorious day that will be, but there is still an impasse between us, so we just read and Skype as often as we can. Long distance relationships sure suck, don’t they?
While stuck “Over Here,” and Jesus is “Over There,” we can be preparing for the imminent arrival of our Saviour. We can be living lives that more and more reflect Jesus Christ, showing forth the “Fruit of the Spirit,” and working for him. We have a “Gospel Commission,” so we need to get the word out to friends and relatives.
If there was a real wedding situation presented to you, with an “All Expenses Paid,” Tropical Paradise venue, with a “Free Air fares and Hotel Accommodation” package, and absolutely no limits to the length of the Guest List, what would you do? So then why are we all so slow in holding back the sending out of the “Wedding Invitations,” for entrance to heaven is available to everybody (John 3:16) so why are we not inviting everybody. We Christians can sometimes hide our lights under a bushel, and go through our days very quietly, or is it that our Faith is too small and we do not actually really believe Jesus is so soon to return for his Bride. The story of the 10 Bridesmaids tells us of what happens, and we have the Sheep and the Goats, Wheat and the Tares, so let us not land up on the wrong side of the Ledger, or let our friends and relatives end up missing out and “Outside the Door.” The invitation is there and real, Entrance Visa and Air Fares, Accommodation and pretty much everything has been settled for Free. Your name, and their names are engraved on the Invitation, so why are we so slow at responding? What is holding us back and keeping us so quiet on this wonderful subject?
So the followers of Christ are to shed light into the darkness of the world. Through the Holy Spirit, God’s word is a light as it becomes a transforming power in the life of the receiver. By implanting in their hearts the principles of His word, the Holy Spirit develops in men the attributes of God. The light of His glory–His character–is to shine forth in His followers. Thus they are to glorify God, to lighten the path to the Bridegroom’s home, to the city of God, to the marriage supper of the Lamb. {COL 414}
The solemn, sacred message of warning must be proclaimed in the most difficult fields and in the most sinful cities, in every place where the light of the great threefold gospel message has not yet dawned. Everyone is to hear the last call to the marriage supper of the Lamb. . . . {Ev 21}
God has called this people to give to the world the message of Christ’s soon coming. We are to give to men the last call to the gospel feast, the last invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Thousands of places that have not heard the call are yet to hear it. Many who have not given the message are yet to proclaim it. Again I appeal to our young men: Has not God called upon to you to sound this message? {GW 64}
Dear Reader; What is your response to the Love of God in Christ Jesus, and the Gospel Commission?
