Solid – Immovable
Quote; “We shall be individually, for time and eternity, what our habits have made us. The lives of those who form right habits, and are faithful in the performance of every duty, will be as shining lights, shedding bright beams upon the pathway of others; but if habits of unfaithfulness are indulged, if lax, indolent, neglectful habits are allowed to strengthen, a cloud darker than midnight will settle on the prospects in this life, and forever prevent the individual from attaining a future life. In childhood and youth the character is most impressible. The power of self-control should then be acquired. By the fireside and at the family table, influences are exerted whose results are as enduring as eternity. More than any natural endowment, the habits established in early years decide whether a person will be victorious or vanquished in the battle of life. {CG 202}
Quote; “Watch your thoughts, they become your words
Watch your words, they become your actions
Watch your actions, they become your habits
Watch your habits, they become your character
Watch your character, because that becomes your destiny
and your Eternity.” – Anon
Quote; “Looking unto Jesus we obtain brighter and more distinct views of God, and by beholding we become changed. Goodness, love for our fellow men, becomes our natural instinct. We develop a character which is the counterpart of the divine character. Growing into His likeness, we enlarge our capacity for knowing God. More and more we enter into fellowship with the heavenly world, and we have continually increasing power to receive the riches of the knowledge and wisdom of eternity. {COL 355}
Quote; “As Christians, we are to manifest to the world the character of Christ in all the affairs of life. To be a Christian means to act in Christ’s stead, to represent Christ in all things. We are not to seek to get rid of the responsibilities that connect us with our fellow men. God has not placed us in the world simply to please and honor and glorify ourselves. The character of our Christianity is tested by the dependent ones who are around us, who are ignorant and helpless. {SW 39}
Quote; “Every passing hour of the present is shaping our future life. These moments spent in carelessness, in self-pleasing, as if of no value, are deciding our everlasting destinies. The words we utter today will go on echoing when time shall be no more. The deeds done today are transferred to the books of heaven, just as the features are transferred by the artist onto the engraving plate. They will determine our destiny for eternity, for bliss or eternal loss and agonizing remorse. Character cannot be changed when Christ comes, nor just as a man is about to die. Character building must be done in this life. We fear that repentance will come to the self-indulgent, tainted soul all too late. A few resolves, a few tears, will never reverse a guilty past life nor blot out of the books of heaven the transgressions, the willful, knowing sins of those who have had the precious light of truth, and can explain the Scriptures to others, while sin and iniquity are drunk up like stolen waters. As though written with an iron pen, they may be found as lead in the rock forever. {TM 429} Hebrews 12:16 “Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.”
Quote; “In the work of character-building we need the help of the Holy Spirit. Then the building will grow in symmetrical proportions. “Ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” Keep looking to Jesus. Never seek for praise or self-glorification. Strive, by watchfulness and prayer, to build up a Christian character, perfect in all its parts. Remember that you are building for eternity. Be careful how you build. Day by day we need to realize the necessity of being converted. Do not stand on the line of demarcation, trying to balance between Christ and the world. Keep on the path cast up for the ransomed of the Lord. By beholding Jesus, you will become changed into his likeness. Your views will be enlarged. You will see the excellence of the truth as it is in Jesus. Your conceptions will be clearer. You will be imbued with the Spirit of God. You will not seek praise from men; you will exalt Christ, saying, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” {YI, 25/10/1900}
Ephesians 3:17-21 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
Character is like “Wet Concrete,” it can so easily be formed and molded, and when poured into a mold, it will thus in the mold harden, then it will perfectly reproduce the shape of the mold, JB Phillips advises, Romans 12:2 JB Phillips “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within.” Your Character is being molded by your childhood, chipped and shaped by the kind deeds or attacks of those you come in contact with, goodness can be chipped away, or artistically enhanced. You only get “One Character,” what is it going to look like in the end? Is it not now time for Jesus, the “Master Craftsman,” to chip and to mold you into something amazing?

In the end, you become “Solid – Immovable,” on display for everyone to view, will you be honoured or mortified and embarrassed, “Today,” is “Change Day.” Quote; “There is a wonderful power in silence. When impatient words are spoken to you, do not retaliate. Words spoken in reply to one who is angry usually act as a whip, lashing the temper into greater fury. But anger met by silence quickly dies away. Let the Christian bridle his tongue, firmly resolving not to speak harsh, impatient words. With the tongue bridled, he may be victorious in every trial of patience through which he is called to pass. {MYP 135} Solid – Immovable, rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus our Lord. Remember; “You created your Environment, and then your Environment Creates You,” it is a vicious circle of “Life unto Life, or Death unto Death.” Are you “Solid – Immoveable,” in God?
Remember the story of the man who built his house upon a rock? Well the Hebrew Mindset gives us this concept, the rock the building sits upon, it grows and morphs upwards, absorbing the very stones, the mortar, until when closely examined there can be found no joints or cracks, this then appears to be a house carved out from solid rock, “Solid – Immoveable.” Has Jesus and your relationship with him so developed that you cannot be seen anymore, just Jesus, “Solid – Immoveable!”
