To the Glory of God
Our Title comes from this verse, 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” I guess if we all adopted this mantra, and were fully committed to executing this concept of “God First Place in everything,” then there could never be any selfishness, discord, grief and heartache. With God always; “First, Last and Best in everything,” then this certainly sounds like Heaven and Paradise to me, so if we plan to live “Over there,” why can we not adopt heavenly principles, and daily practice living “Over There – Over Here” right now in our daily lives?
Quote; “ Among the children of Israel who were carried captive to Babylon at the beginning of the seventy years’ captivity were Christian patriots, men who were as true as steel to principle, who would not be corrupted by selfishness, but who would honor God at the loss of all things. In the land of their captivity these men were to carry out God’s purpose by giving to heathen nations the blessings that come through a knowledge of Jehovah. They were to be His representatives. Never were they to compromise with idolaters; their faith and their name as worshipers of the living God they were to bear as a high honor. And this they did. In prosperity and adversity they honored God, so God therefore honored them.” {CSA 52} Quote; “By the inspiration of the Spirit of God, Paul the apostle writes that “whatsoever ye do,” even the natural act of eating or drinking, should be done, not to gratify a perverted appetite, but under a sense of responsibility,–“do all to the glory of God.” Every part of the man is to be guarded; we are to beware lest that which is taken into the stomach shall banish from the mind high and holy thoughts. May I not do as I please with myself? Ask some, as if we were seeking to deprive them of a great good, when we present before them the necessity of eating intelligently, and conforming all their habits to the laws God has established. {CD 56}
Now to examine this on a specific of “Diet;” so is that which comes from your mug, that bottle or that can, that box or that packet, was it from habit, or tradition, or is it definitely good for the Mind the Body and the Soul? Is our Service to God casual, occasional, only when we feel holy, or every day of the week? Daniel 6:16 “Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast [him] into the den of lions. [Now] the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.” With Daniel, it was always, “Thy God whom thou servest continually,” so are we casual, occasional or just continually. Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel and his friends, when brought into the Royal Court, viewed the rich food, the delicacies, the meats and wine as “Defilement” so they requested a diet that was more like Adam and Eve’s, Daniel 1:12 “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.” Pulse is a broad word that covers basically anything that grows in the ground and is sowed as a seed. Genesis 2:9-10 “And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.” So the Edenic Diet was in essence, Fruits, Nuts, Grains and Vegetables, with water to drink, eaten raw or with minimal preparation, as close as to what was harvested as possible.
Matthew 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.” Now if King Jesus is going to ask you a question, and he can read your thoughts, he also has those very accurate records of your past actions and inactions all carefully written down, so cough it up, the way you treat your spouse, children, relatives, work mates, neighbours, that includes anybody and everybody, then they are in essence Jesus Christ, maybe it is past time to think carefully before we are guilty of “Omission or Commission,” of a thought deed or action. 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
Now in the “Hebrew Mindset,” everything Physical has a Spiritual duplicate, proper physical marriage gives us a concept of the oneness of God the Father and his son, total oneness. 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” Now “Spiritualize” this, everything you read, watch, think, visualize, listen to, talk about, “mind, body, soul and spirit,” then “do all to the glory of God.” Quote; “The apostle sought to teach the believers how important it is to keep the mind from wandering to forbidden themes or from spending its energies on trifling subjects. Those who would not fall a prey to Satan’s devices, must guard well the avenues of the soul; they must avoid reading, seeing, or hearing that which will suggest impure thoughts. The mind must not be left to dwell at random upon every subject that the enemy of souls may suggest. The heart must be faithfully sentineled, or evils without will awaken evils within, and the soul will wander in darkness. “Gird up the loins of your mind,” Peter wrote, “be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; . . . not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” {AA 518}
In conclusion, 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, [or think, or speak, or read, or post on Social Media, or listen to, or contemplate] or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” I guess if we all adopted this mantra, and were fully committed to executing this concept of “God First Place in everything,” then there could not ever be any selfishness, discord, grief and heartache. With God being “First, Last and Best in everything,” then this certainly sounds like Heaven and Paradise to me, so if we plan to live “Over there,” why can we not right now adopt heavenly principles, and live “Over There – Over Here” right now in our daily lives, just living, “All to the Glory of God?”
