You’re Fired
Esau before and after sin; Quote; “The birthright which he had so carelessly bartered he could not now regain. “For one morsel of meat,” for a momentary gratification of appetite that had never been restrained, Esau sold his inheritance; but when he saw his folly, it was too late to recover the blessing. Esau was not shut out from the privilege of seeking God’s favour by repentance, but he could find no means of recovering the birthright. His grief did not spring from conviction of sin; he did not desire to be reconciled to God. He sorrowed because of the results of his sin, but not for the sin itself.” {CC 63} The end result and eternal result, sin had separated Esau from his creator, through many tears and hunting, he never made it back to God and thus will be missing from Eternity, Hebrews 12:16-17 “Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.”
Snakes before and after sin; Quote “The serpent was then one of the wisest and most beautiful creatures on the earth. It had wings, and while flying through the air presented an appearance of dazzling brightness, having the colour and brilliancy of burnished gold. Resting in the rich-laden branches of the forbidden tree and regaling itself with the delicious fruit, it was an object to arrest the attention and delight the eye of the beholder. Thus in the garden of peace lurked the destroyer, watching for his prey.” {PP 53} Genesis 3:14 “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:” In the New Earth; Isaiah 11:8 “And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.” Consequences of sin, they never fly again or look magnificent, they ‘Got Fired’ forever from that role, forever to crawl on their belly in the dust.
Adam before and after sin; Genesis 2:8 “And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” And after sin; Genesis 3:23-24 “Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.” Sin separated them from their God, and they were forced to live away from God, the consequences of sin, sin separates, they got fired from their exulted position.
Moses before and after sin; Exodus 7:1 “And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.” And after Deuteronomy 34:4-6 “And the LORD said unto him, This [is] the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see [it] with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither. So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. Jude 1:9 “Yet Michael [Christ] the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Moses walked with God, worked for him, and failed just short of the boarders of Canaan, and died outside, then Jesus resurrected him and took him to Heaven where he is still waiting for us to be resurrected and to join him.
Elijah before and after; 1 Kings 18:3639 “And it came to pass at [the time of] the offering of the [evening] sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou [art] God in Israel, and [that] I [am] thy servant, and [that] I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou [art] the LORD God, and [that] thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that [was] in the trench. And when all the people saw [it], they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he [is] the God; the LORD, he [is] the God.” And after failing God; 1 Kings 19:16 “And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint [to be] king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint [to be] prophet in thy room.” Elijah was fired, and Elisha took over the role as “the prophet in thy room,” and Elijah was translated to heaven in a chariot of fire. [2 Kings 2:11]King Saul before and after; 1 Samuel 15:1 “Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee [to be] king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.” Saul became king over a vast and prosperous nation, but he regularly stumbled and then fell into sin fully and deeply, and died in battle. The summing up of his life is in this verse; 1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion [is as] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from [being] king.” A real scary thing to be rejected by God, outside and without hope, fired and loosing Eternity, and that is a real shame. Sin has deep and eternal consequences, so let us flee sin and have nothing to do with it, or we may hear what King Saul heard, “Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee.” “You’re Fired.” Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Matthew 22:13 “Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:21 “His lord said unto him, Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Let us be always worthy and honourable, Proverbs 3:6 “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Sin has eternal consequences, damages us permanently, so let us stay as far away from sin as possible, and draw even closer and nearer to God.
