Sometimes after we have made a complete mess of things, somebody then graciously offers us some kindness, some mercy, some hope, and these are all freely and graciously granted unto us, we are therefore gifted a “Second Chance.” We also have the choice, whether to accept or to reject a “Second Chance,” or we can sometimes start out by taking this gracious gift, and then slipping and failing and by this we foolishly end up in throwing it all away, returning once more to our old and faulty and failing ways, “as a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly,” Proverbs 26:11. The old ways, those old thoughts and passions and desires can often overpoweringly flood back, old friends and acquaintances can beckon us back, to entice us to return, compelling, seducing, tempting. But why would you even consider ‘The Old Ways?’ We have all walked them in our past, and found them to be failing, and faulty on every side, what is delivered is nothing like the ‘rose tinted glasses’ perceived, we bear the scars of the past, so why would we ever return, and to embrace those old ways, to get back to ‘cruising for a bruising,’ to batter, both our body and our emotions, we have been offered a fresh and a new and promising “Second Chance,” so let us embrace a better world, a better life, a new life full of love, joy, peace, gentleness, meekness, a new life, let us be done and dusted with that ‘Old Life,’ and with the ‘Old Ways,’ but we once were that, but never again and never more do we ever go back there.
Drugs, seduction, sex, crime, violence, bad living, abuse and the like, they all appear alluring, but once you get entrapped within, and it is then so very hard to escape its tentacles and clutches, for death stalks close by, addiction can cause serious health problems, and can even in cases, permanently close our way back, even leaving us permanently disabled, and crime will never escape the long arm of the Law, when a Judges Sentence, can so quickly put an instant end to living your care free life, as now the system controls everything, the life of sin controlled and entrapped you, but incarceration gives you no door of escape or freedom, the reality is that there is no freedom or real life in sin and corruption. Jesus freely will offer you a “Second Chance,” but Satan invariably will kill you, destroy you, burry you under a load of sin and grief, making very sure that you never ever get another chance, get to break away from him and his clutches, to get to live in the complete joyous freedom and a New Life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Quote; “King Saul then decided that he himself would go, for his fierce enmity had become uncontrollable. Evil angels conspired with wicked men to destroy the anointed of the Lord. He was determined to wait for no second chance to kill David. As soon as he should come within reach of him, he intended with his own hand to slay him, whatever might be the consequences. [ST August 24th 1888]. Satan has not ever changed from being a destroyer, and a liar and a deceptive cheat, he has not changed, and should you ever get away from sin and get too close to God, evil will instantly try to recapture and to ensnare and to enslave you, wickedness will view you as God’s Child, you are now Satan’s enemy, and Satan will corrupt you, he will slay you as quickly as possible, with no chances of ‘Second Chances.’
Adam, who is the leader of our race, fell into sin and degradation back in the Garden of Eden, and that was our ‘First Chance,’ you live your current life, that borrowed life, that mercy and grace from God, and this is your ‘Second Chance,’ how many more chances we will ever receive is unknown, do not blow this precious chance, do not treat this life with frivolity and carelessness, as you may not ever get another chance, this may well be all you ever get, on this side of Eternity, treasure this life, protect it fiercely, Calvary purchased this chance that you now live, and there are consequences if we should ever fall back again into Satan’s clutches and destructive powers. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.” Ezekiel 33:11 “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O House of Israel?”
Quote; “As representative of the fallen race, Christ passed over the same ground on which Adam stumbled and fell. By a life of perfect obedience to God’s law, Christ redeemed man from the penalty of Adam’s disgraceful fall. Man has violated God’s law. Only for those who return to their allegiance to God, only for those who obey the law that they have violated, will the blood of Christ avail. Christ will never become a party to sin. Bearing the penalty of the law, He gives the sinner another chance, a second trial. He opens a way whereby the sinner can be reinstated in God’s favor. Christ bears the penalty of man’s past transgressions, and by imparting to man His righteousness, makes it possible for man to keep God’s holy law.” {6BC 1092}
Quote; “Should God save men in disobedience, after granting them a second probation, putting them to the test in this life, they would fail to regard his authority in the future life. Those who are disloyal to Christ in this world would be disloyal to him in the world to come, and would create a second rebellion in heaven. Men have the history of Adam’s disobedience and fall before them, and because of this they should be warned against venturing to transgress the law of God. Jesus Christ has died in order that all men may have a chance to make their calling and election sure; but the standard of righteousness in this gospel age is no less than it was in the days of Adam, and heaven will be the reward of obedience.” {RH, September 28, 1897} What then are you currently doing with your “Second Chance?”
