Let us have a little more We.

There is a lovely wee story from some time way back, that helps us to understand a bit more this concept, once more inspired by God.  There was a lovely grand village church, ornate and beautiful, built with solid stone from the surrounding hills, proudly sited with good views over the countryside, snuggled there right in the village.  It had a wonderfully ornate and quite large reed organ, those wonderful instruments where the organist pedaled flat out on two bellows with their feet to supply the essential wind for the instrument to play, but then this instrument was too large for the organist to perform this task, so right there beside him, screened off with a wee curtain, was a large bellows, sort of like what was powering a blacksmiths forge, and the village idiot was the muscle, as he was powerfully built.

Well one day a travelling organist arrived in town, and was much impressed by the potential of this instrument, so an ‘Organ Recital’ was planned, to awaken this instrument, and to show off its full potential.  The Organist was very talented, and his bag was well filled with wonderful and grand stacks of sheet music, so the recital began.  The church was filled to capacity, and the late commers crowded around outside, to enjoy the beautiful music spilling out through the open windows, and washing over the surrounding countryside.  Piece after piece of music, flowed forth, amazing all who heard, then the organist announced the next piece, and ended with, “and now I will play for you,” and launched worth, but all he got was a fast-dying wheeze from what little air was still left inside the instrument.  So, he announced a little louder the piece, “and now I will play for you,” but this time there was total silence, then a head, with a thick mop of hair, poked out from behind the curtain, and he spoke, “and this time let us have a little more We!’

Dutifully chastised, the organist was forced to admit, that behind the scenes, there was a power, that critical power, without which, he was unable to perform anything, but when harnessed with this power, much amazingness flowed forth.  With a couple of strong and powerful pumps of the bellows, the old organ was primed and ready, so he announced, “and now WE will play for you,” and launched forth, and the grand old instrument once more shook the rafters with melodious and grand music.  Piece after piece of grand organ music was played, a grand and uplifting time was had by all, and the old organ now had so much more respect and admiration, as they had all discovered its full potential.  We are so much like this old organ, full of potential, but with no ‘huff n puff,’ we just lie silent and gathering dust, those about us never knowing the hidden potential, just waiting to be awakened.  But bring in the power of the “Holy Spirit,” and heavens arches will ring out, but how so easily it is to forget the power that is behind the curtain, the power of God, the breath of heaven, for without this power, we instantly and quickly fall silent, but when impowered, wonderful things abound, blessings, joy and happiness abound.  Even for me, I can only write what and when inspiration directs, I work for God, he is the power, that critical wind, that source, for without God, my pen would lie dusty and silent upon my desk, we should always sing, ‘to God be the glory, great things he has done.’  Ephesians 4:30 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”  Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”  Psalm 57:5 “Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.”  Psalm 62:7 “In God [is] my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, [and] my refuge, [is] in God.”  Psalm 79:9 “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.”  Psalm 108:5 “Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;”

Moses took his eye off God, took to himself, “I can handle this,” when it in reality it is the power of God, so this pridefulness was sufficient to lock him out of finishing the Exodus journey, and of leading Israel into the Promised Land.  Deuteronomy 32:51 “Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.”  Ephesians 4:30 JB Phillips “Never hurt the Holy Spirit. He is, remember, the personal pledge of your eventual full redemption.”  It gets to be so easy for us to omit, consciously, or unconsciously, who is the power behind us, the wind beneath our wings, who is quietly seated behind the curtain, manning the bellows, until it is not there, but we must remember the source, and give glory to God, Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”  To God be the glory!  Quote; “Let those upon whom the Lord bestows rich gifts be guarded, lest pride and self-sufficiency obtain the control. The person who exerts a wide influence, the one that people are willing to follow, needs to be constantly prayed for and admonished by other workers. Let them pray that he or she may be kept from pride and self-exaltation. {CTr 158} Quote; “Love of self, pride and self-sufficiency lie at the foundation of the greatest trials and discords that have ever existed in the religious world.” {ChL 12} Quote; “There is nothing so offensive to God or so dangerous to the human soul as pride and self-sufficiency. Of all sins it is the most hopeless, the most incurable. {COL 155}

John 8:28 “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”  Colossians 1:27 “To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” John 3:30 “He must increase, but I [must] decrease.”  Let us in every day and in every way, acknowledge that without God, we are nothing, just dust of the ground, worthless, but ‘In Christ,’ then we are of infinite value, but to always to remember this, Quote; “There is nothing so offensive to God or so dangerous to the human soul as pride and self-sufficiency. Of all sins it is the most hopeless, the most incurable. {COL 155} “So let us have a little more WE”  The Holy Spirit gives “Inspiration,” we just need to put it into action with some “Perspiration.”  John 3:30 “He must increase, but I [must] decrease.” Let us be yoked together, teamed up, Matthew 22:21        “They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”  So let us thank our fellows for their help, praise God that they came to our aid, and when “Inspired,” make sure that there is no ‘Plagiarism,’ God’s word is God’s word, let us not claim that which is not our own. “So let us have a little more WE”
