Sinning yet Saved?
This concept has been growing for a while; so now it is time to put pen to paper. I read quote’s, hear people repeating this concept, which in essence goes like this, “We will keep on sinning until Jesus comes.” This has never seemed correct, but I have never fully understood it until now, so here is my current study and thoughts on this matter.
Romans 5:19-6:2 “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” This text tells us that Jesus’ perfect life, was the Perfect “Lamb of God,” and sin is no longer a victor as it is conquered, as we now have a way home and forgiveness. We Prodigal Son’s from a far country (Planet Earth) can now come home to restoration.
1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].” This tells me that if sin knocks on my heart’s door, then Jesus has made sure that it is not overpoweringly huge and unfair so you “Have to Sin,” you have a choice and Jesus gives you power to overcome, maybe we should just let Jesus open the door when sin and temptation comes knocking instead of opening the door ourselves.
Revelation 7:13-15 “And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.” Here we are told that those who get to heaven have washed their robes in blood. This is directing the mind to the sacrificial system of “Shed Blood=remission of sin” {Hebrews 9:22}
1 John 3:1-9 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
Please note the statement at the end, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin,” which points out that the redeemed are not sinning in the current tense. We are all sinners (Past Tense), but through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Jesus in the life, we are not currently practicing sin anymore. Mattew 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
So if the “Redeemed” are “Pure,” have “No Sin,” perfect like our Heavenly Father, so if this was impossible for a Human Being, then God has asked for them an impossible function to perform, and on top of that, God has not provided what he promised; but that is not true as he has provided much more and more bountifully so that sin does not have dominion over us. Matthew 19:25-26 “When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” So God tells us that it is actually possible, and there are lots of statements that point out that this perfection and sinlessness is a requirement for Salvation.
We have this from Genesis 5:24 “And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him.” This is from before the Exodus, and Enoch walked with God and his walking in God’s ways, walked himself clear into heaven. Did his deeds or works earn him the right, NO!! it was walking by Faith in the Son of God. Ephesians 4:13 “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:” and Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Or Colossians 1:27 “To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
If we live and reflect the Devil’s ways, we cannot expect God to know us and to take us to his world, when we live and focus in the opposite world, just remember the wise and foolish bridesmaids, today as we live our lives, let us live for and like Jesus Christ in all our ways.
