The Fellowship of the Unashamed
Here is something that I was given some time back and it is so good that it is well worth digging out, dusting off and re-printing once more.
Quote; “In 1980 a young man from Rwanda was forced by his tribe to either renounce Christ or face certain death. He refused to renounce Christ, and was killed on the spot. The night before he had written the following commitment which was found in his room:
“I’m part of the unashamed, the die has been cast, I have stepped over the line, the decision has been made- I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I’m done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colourless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving & dwarfed goals.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I won’t give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up for the cause of Jesus Christ.
I must go till he comes, give till I drop, preach till everyone knows, work till he stops me & when he comes for his own, he will have no problem recognizing me because my banner will be clear.” The Fellowship of the Unashamed By Dr. Bob Moorehead
I am always inspired by this short story of dedication and commitment and I often wonder when I re-read this, as to how many of us are at this level of dedication and commitment today, and I certainly would not put myself on this level, but my desire and the longing from the Spirit of God in my life is always encouraging me to reach higher and to stand firmer.
In a crisis like this, we each may well surprise ourselves as to the depth of our boldness and commitment to Jesus Christ and to the Christian way, and I do so hope that none of us would ever “throw in the towel” and then go and deny or Saviour and Lord, and walk no more in the ways of Truth and Life. Winning or falling short is all based on what we each of us are doing in our day-to-day walk and as to how deeply we are drinking from his word and the fountain of life. As he said “the decision has been made- I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still.”
The “River of Life” is in the New Jerusalem, and is freely available to us through all eternity, but I truly believe that we can drink deeply from it daily and this is “by Faith” and so soon it will be a reality as it is dribbling down our chins.

This chap is in essence challenging each one of us to store up scripture in our minds and then to live by them. To pray up for ourselves, for others, and for those around us that do not have the peace that passeth all understanding (Phil 4:7) to be powerful in our “Christian Walk” as we have set our face, stepped up our pace, and are concerned about the fate of the Human Race.
Our “World” can often shrink to a very few selected persons, but we need to widen our horizon, as we may well be the only Christian that people may ever see and the only “image of God” that they ever comprehend, so are we each sowing Wheat or are we sowing Tares? We have this in 2 Peter 3:11 “[Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought ye to be in [all] holy conversation and godliness,” So are you Ashamed or Unashamed? Matthew quotes this for us in Matthew 10:33 “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
None of us ever want to have Jesus Christ to be Ashamed of us, and because of our denial of him, have Jesus Christ deny to our Heavenly Father that he even knows us. This is the commendation that we want to hear as found in Matthew 25:23 “His lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Jesus is not ashamed of these people and they are rewarded for their due diligence.
Dear Reader; Have you reached this point in your life? “I’m part of the unashamed, the die has been cast, I have stepped over the line, the decision has been made- I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still.” So are you ashamed to stand up and to stand out as a dedicated Believer, or is God the Father and Jesus Christ sadly ashamed of you?
