I am not God
Here is something for us all to contemplate; “I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.” I stumble and I often fall, but I scrape myself up, dust off, and in God’s Strength, I get back on my bike and pedal onwards and forwards. I am not always perfectly polite, or even patient in all situations, I am not always punctual at reaching out to those around me that could benefit from my connection to my “Heavenly Father,” so from the point we started out from, “I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.”
As the song goes, “I’m just a Sinner, saved by Grace.” Like a new-born baby, I cannot run a sub 4 minute mile, well not yet, but you be very careful as I am always in Spiritual Training, and I am growing in Grace and Knowledge. Peter has this for us in 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.” I am on a long term “Training Schedule” and as this verse admonishes us from Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
I have a “Personal Trainer” and the Holy Spirit has me on a fantastic training schedule which has me growing in grace and knowledge which moves me from strength to strength. We have this admonition in Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” You see, I have set my sights on a very high goal, but the Apostle James has this for us in James 1:12 “Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” You see, I already have my Crown, because I love God, and God is taking good care of it at his place until I get over there and then he will freely and personally give my Crown to me, it is a reality, but it is “’over there,” “By Faith,” while I live “Over here.” We have this verse as found in Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Do you have this on “Your Daily Training Schedule?” “I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.”
Philippians 3:11-16 “If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.”
“I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.” I am not content with where I am and like Paul in Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Just like a Tree, I will continue to grow and to develop, for if a “Living Object” ever stops growing and developing, then it is in reality dying, and that is “Anti-Life” Romans 6:4 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Colossians 3:4 “When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
“I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.” When Jesus comes back very soon for us believers, then this verse come to fulfilment, 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” “I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I will be just like my Jesus as I have patterned myself after his Character.” This verse tells me that I can make it, it encourages us all to step up and together we can all make a big difference in this world and in our circle of contacts.
Dear Reader; “I am not God; but I am his beloved Child and I am doing my very best to be just like him in Character.” So will you also, Step up, Stand Up, Live up, and then be like Jesus Christ, and have a very strong resemblance of God the Father.
