Act of God
There is an interesting statement that is often thrown up, or even worse, thrown directly into God’s Face, and that is, “it is all your fault God,” and even Insurance Companies have a clause to cover unforeseen disasters as “Acts of God.” I object to this unfair and un-truth. From childhood we heard stories of the good angel/good guy sits on your right shoulder to tell you to do things that are right, and the Devil/Evil Angel sits on your left shoulder begging you to do evil and wrong.
Some societies even encouraged you to throw a pinch of salt over your left shoulder at meals so that the devil would get salt in his eyes and have to run off and to leave you while he sorted out his medical problem, and I like this humorous concept, even if it is a bit fictional. The Devil gets portrayed as being in a “Red Suit” and with a Trident/Pitch Fork which he uses to prod you into sin and evil. God stood for “Good things,” and the Devil stood for “Bad/Evil things,” so how come God gets all the “Bad Press?” Why does God get blamed for all the Bad things that the Devil instigates?
I understand that in Ying – Yang, God is portrayed as being both Pure Holiness and Pure Evil, as being the fullness in both extremes, all in one being, and as long as they balance, then things are OK, if weighted good and gracious, then hey things are fantastic, but if the balance dips to the “Dark Side” then we have evil and disasters, plagues, famines, fires and mayhem. Some societies even offer sacrifices to appease the gods, or to try to bribe him to “Be Nice” or they even make offerings to the bad gods so that they will become so busy with the festivities, that they will forget to cause them any mayhem, or that they will sort of like them and leave them alone and go find some other lesser persons, tribe or nation to harass.
Let us give God a chance to spell out his side of this predicament; Ezekiel 33:11 “Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” It is God that is pleading, waving the “Warning Flag,” “Warning, Warning Will Robinson,” {Lost in Space} so if God does John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” then why do people load all the grief from Satan, Sin and Evil over into God’s Camp.
Malachi 3:6 “For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.” When we consider these verses, we are comforted in the fact that God is not fickle, changeable, or moody, with great swings of reaction, God is constant, reliable, predictable, kind considerate and caring. God is constantly pleading with us all to turn from our wicked ways, to repent, for why would you wish to perish in any sins, when “Eternal Life” and the endless bounties of Heaven are just before us. The Philosopher once said, “I threw in the Towel; but then God threw it straight back at me and said, “Stand up, Wipe your face, you’ve just on won.”
The Bible shows clearly in the “Moses built Sanctuary” and its services, that at the end, when all is weighed up in the balances, Satan as Azazel has to stand up and take the punishment and medicine for all the mayhem that he has done in his life. We have this verse in 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.” Romans 14:10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother? Or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” Revelation 22:12-14 “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
Quote; “God is able and willing to bestow upon His servants all the strength they need, and to give them the wisdom that their varied necessities demand. He will more than fulfil the highest expectations of those who put their trust in Him. Jesus does not call on us to follow Him, and then forsake us. If we surrender our lives to His service, we can never be placed in a position for which God has not made provision. Whatever may be our situation, we have a Guide to direct our way; whatever our perplexities, we have a sure Counsellor; whatever our sorrow, bereavement, or loneliness, we have a sympathizing Friend. If in our ignorance we make missteps, Christ does not leave us. “He shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.” Psalm 72:12. {FLB 126}
The only “Act of God” that he is actually guilty of, is this, he is always doing everything possible for our Salvation, he even offered up his “One and Only Son” to pay your debts of sin, so why not trust him, and let the “Act of God” be your Salvation in and through Jesus Christ.
